About Nicolas DeNora

The Journey Behind Piano Perfect
What started as teaching piano to family and friends in Pennsylvania in 2019 has grown into Piano Perfect Ponte Vedra—a professional music instruction business serving two studio locations across Ponte Vedra. My approach combines proven technical excellence with personalized instruction, creating an environment where students don't just learn piano, but develop a lifelong love for music!
Musical Excellence & Credentials
13 Years of Piano Mastery
I began my piano journey in 2013 and have dedicated over a decade to mastering the instrument. My training includes studying under a regional instructor with the Pennsylvania Federation of Music Clubs (PFMC), and after relocating to Florida, I continued my education under the former President of the National Federation of Music Clubs—one of the most prestigious credentials in American music education. I've also trained simultaneously with a pianist from the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra, who performed with the Jacksonville University pit orchestra.

Nationally Recognized Competitor
Through the National Federation of Music Clubs, I've earned an unprecedented perfect record of 14 Superior ratings across seven years of competition—the highest possible score given the length of my time competing. I am both a regional and state champion under the PFMC, having competed successfully at local, regional, and state levels, consistently placing only first, second, or third. This competitive experience directly informs my teaching: I know what it takes to perform under pressure, refine technique, and achieve excellence.
Performing Artist
Performance is at the heart of my teaching philosophy. I've brought live piano music to diverse venues across two states, including:
- the link Innovation Hub – Regular performances at Festival of Trees (770+ attendees), JaxFuse, lobby events, and community gatherings
- Mayo Clinic – Lobby performances
- Baptist Medical Center South – Live music for patients and staff
- Beachwalk Club – Featured pianist for Tennis/Pickleball Banquet, Valentine's Dinner, and exclusive member events
- Hotel Bethlehem – Featured performer during my time in Pennsylvania
- Multiple retirement and nursing homes – Bringing joy and connection through music
As a former member of the link's Leadership Club, I actively collaborated with local leaders and entrepreneurs on charitable initiatives, further connecting music with community impact.
I've also performed in the pit orchestra for a large-scale theatrical production, delivering live music across four performances for an audience of approximately 2,000 people—a testament to my ability to perform with precision and professionalism under demanding conditions.
Additionally, I competed and performed as a vocalist with the Ponte Vedra Sharkapellas, an a cappella group that reached Quarterfinalist status at the 2025 International Championship of High School A Cappella (ICHSA).

Education & Professional Background
Academic Excellence
I maintained a 4.1 GPA while pursuing an exclusively rigorous academic track of Honors, Advanced Placement, and Dual Enrollment coursework. My studies included AP Calculus AB, foreign language comprehension, and college-level courses such as Personal Finance, Life-Span Development, and Medical Terminology.
I relocated to Ponte Vedra specifically to join the Academy of Biotechnology and Medical Research- ranked #1 in Florida. As a junior, I was granted an exclusive exception to enter the second level of this prestigious academy, as juniors are typically not permitted to enroll.
Prior to Florida, I attended Moravian Academy in Pennsylvania, where I was the first-ever recipient of a competitive three-year scholarship, awarded for curiosity, leadership potential, and dedication to learning.
I've also attended Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth (CTY) for two consecutive summers, completing intensive programs in Zoology (15+ dissections) and Biotechnology (16+ labs), further solidifying my foundation in the life sciences.
Professional Internships & Experience
My work extends far beyond music. I've completed internships and professional experiences across multiple industries, including:
- Deep Brain Stimulation Internship – Boston Scientific, Mayo Clinic, and UF Health, focusing on cutting-edge neurotechnology and medical device applications
- Laboratory & Nursing Internship – Baptist Medical Center South, gaining hands-on clinical and research experience
- Epidemiology Internship – Anastasia Mosquito Control District, studying disease transmission and public health protocols
- Business & Entrepreneurship Intern – the link Innovation Hub, specializing in event coordination, volunteer management, and startup development
- JaxFounders Entrepreneurship Internship – Developing business strategy and leadership skills studying under 3 of Jacksonville's most highly-regarded entrepreneurs
- AnnieRuth Foundation Development Program – Community-focused work supporting underserved populations
Extracurricular Experiences
Outside of the activities listed above, I hold a Tang Soo Do Black Belt, and a Shotokan Black Belt (9 years of collective training, first-place finishes in 6+ tournaments), partake in modeling photoshoots, participate in sports, and volunteer around northeast Florida.
I've contributed nearly 400 hours of community service, including performing at charity events like the Festival of Trees (supporting over 25 charities), assembling and delivering part of the 460 Thanksgiving baskets through the Thanksgiving Basket Brigade, and playing piano at retirement homes to bring joy and connection to residents.
My approach to piano instruction is shaped by all of these experiences—the discipline from martial arts, the precision from competitive performance, the empathy from community service, and the innovation from entrepreneurship and scientific research. I teach all my students how to set goals, overcome challenges, and find joy in the process of mastering something meaningful. Every lesson is an opportunity to build confidence that extends far beyond the keyboard!

"Nic is the best piano teacher we have ever encountered! Our daughters are learning strong fundamentals and learning to read music, not just play songs. We saw more progress in 2 months with Nic, than a whole year at another piano school."
